How do I find the right provider for me?
We’re honored to be part of your mental health journey! To get started, simply fill out our brief questionnaire—it helps us match you with providers who align with your needs and preferences. From there, you can schedule a free consultation to make sure it feels like the right fit before beginning care.
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session is a chance for you and your provider to get to know each other. You’ll talk through your background, goals, and what brought you to therapy. It’s a supportive, judgment-free space designed to help you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take the next step.
What is a consultation, and how do I schedule one?
A consultation is a free, 15-minute call with a provider. It’s a great opportunity to introduce yourself, ask questions, and get a feel for the provider’s style and approach. You can schedule a consultation directly through our platform after reviewing your matches.
Can I message a provider before booking a session?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to use our chat feature to connect with providers before committing to a session. At Step Towards Wellness, we believe in putting care into your hands—you deserve to feel empowered and informed every step of the way. Our providers are here to support you and can guide you through next steps within their individual practices.
What if I don’t connect with my provider? Can I switch?
Yes, you can absolutely switch providers at any time. Finding the right fit is important, and it’s okay if the first provider you meet isn’t quite right for you. We’re here to help you continue your search until you find someone who truly meets your needs.

Appointments are booked outside of Step Towards Wellness. Our providers are here to support you and can guide you through next steps within their individual practices.
Are all sessions virtual, or do you offer in-person options?
We offer in-person, phone, and virtual options!
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 53-55 minutes long.
How often should I see my provider?
As you work with your provider they will support you in a treatment plan that best supports your needs! They often range from weekly to bi-weekly sessions depending on the care plan set by your provider.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Each of our providers have their own cancellation policies that best fit their own practices. Most common cancellation policies request 24-48 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules. However, this varies between each of our providers.

Do you accept insurance?
Step Towards Wellness partners with providers who may accept a variety of insurance plans. However, because each provider operates independently, insurance acceptance varies. We strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company directly to confirm your mental health benefits, coverage, and any out-of-pocket costs before beginning care.
How much do sessions cost without insurance?
Session fees are determined by each provider or their practice group. While rates may vary, you can generally expect to pay between $100–$200 per session. Your provider will confirm their specific rates during your consultation or intake process.
Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-fee options?
Many providers offer sliding scale or reduced-fee options based on financial need. These options are set individually by each provider or their practice, so we encourage you to ask about availability during your consultation.
How do I pay for my sessions?
All payments are handled directly through your provider or their practice. Step Towards Wellness does not process or collect payments for therapy sessions.

Is my information confidential?
Step Towards Wellness is not a HIPAA-compliant platform. However, we take privacy seriously and ensure that all account information is secured with a username and password. We encourage you to avoid sharing sensitive health information through the platform and to discuss any personal or medical details directly with your provider within their secure practice systems.
Are sessions secure and HIPAA-compliant?
Therapy sessions are not conducted through Step Towards Wellness. We are a referral and provider-matching service, here to help you connect with a provider and begin care within their own independent, HIPAA-compliant practice. Once matched, your provider will guide you through their secure intake and session process.
